Server Rules.
Please ensure that you read the server rules before connecting to the server and roleplaying.
General Rules
1.0 – Streaming & TOS
Evolve Roleplay welcomes streamers and content creators. Anyone who chooses to stream or record whilst playing in the city is responsible for following both Evolve Roleplay’s rules and the Terms of Service and guidelines of the platform they are using, such as Twitch.
Being live or recording does not excuse rule-breaking. If you choose to create content within the city, it is your responsibility to ensure you are following all relevant rules at all times.
1.2 – Discrimination & Harassment
Racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, slurs and any other form of discriminatory behaviour are strictly prohibited at all times. Claiming that something was said or done “in character” does not automatically make discriminatory behaviour acceptable.
Verbal harassment, sexual harassment, intimidation, threats and deliberately making another player feel uncomfortable are also prohibited. Repeatedly targeting, humiliating or attempting to upset another player, whether in or out of character, may result in staff action.
1.3 – Age
You must be at least 16 years old to play Evolve Roleplay. Exceptions may occasionally be made for players under the age of 16, although this will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Anyone requesting an exception must be able to demonstrate that they can provide mature, high-quality roleplay and conduct themselves appropriately within the community.
1.4 – Character Names
All character names must be realistic and suitable for the setting of the server. Deliberately unrealistic names or names intended to imitate public figures are not permitted.
1.5 – Fail Roleplay
Fail Roleplay is any action that breaks immersion, ignores realistic consequences or does not reasonably fit within the roleplay scenario taking place. Players are expected to make an effort to keep scenarios believable and give others the opportunity to enjoy meaningful roleplay.
1.5 – OOC Talk
Players must remain in character whilst actively playing in the city. Out-of-character terminology must not be used to influence an active roleplay situation.
Terms such as RDM, VDM, AFK, Discord, GTA, report, staff, ticket and stream should not be used in character. Where appropriate, players should use roleplay-friendly alternatives instead.
For example, an imported item or vehicle may be referred to as an “import”, being banned may be referred to as being “deported”, and your keyboard or mouse may be referred to as your “muscles”. A disconnection or lag spike may be described as a “headpop”, whilst a microphone can be referred to as a “voicebox”.
Logging out may be referred to as “going to sleep” or “flying out”, the server may be referred to as the “city”, and real life may be described as being “in your head”. Your screen or view may be referred to as “your eyes”.
The purpose of this rule is to maintain immersion and prevent out-of-character information from affecting active roleplay.
1.6 – Powergaming
Powergaming is the use of game mechanics, commands, scripts or systems to force an unrealistic outcome or gain an advantage that could not reasonably exist through roleplay.
Examples of Powergaming include carrying someone through a wall, gate, door or another solid object, retrieving a vehicle from a stored garage specifically to escape an active situation, or storing items or vehicles during an active scene to avoid the consequences.
Players must not cuff someone who is actively moving or use carry and escort mechanics to maintain control of another player whilst they are in Stage 1 or Stage 2.
Using animations, scripts or game mechanics to perform actions that would not realistically be possible may also be treated as Powergaming.
1.7 – RDM
RDM, or Random Deathmatch, is intentionally injuring or killing another player without a legitimate roleplay reason or appropriate roleplay leading up to it.
Before lethal force is used, there must be a legitimate reason for doing so. Proper verbal initiation must take place, the situation should escalate appropriately where circumstances allow, and the other player must be given a reasonable opportunity to respond.
Players must also be able to see one another when the initiation takes place.
1.8 – Initiation
All hostile player-on-player situations require clear and meaningful verbal initiation before violence takes place.
The initiation must be directed towards the intended player and must give them a reasonable opportunity to understand what is happening and respond to the situation.
Simply pointing a weapon at someone, firing a shot or assuming that another player “should know” why they are being targeted does not count as proper initiation.
Initiation must be meaningful and cannot be used as a technical loophole to justify immediately attacking or killing another player.
1.9 – VDM
VDM, or Vehicle Deathmatch, is the deliberate use of a vehicle to injure, knock down or kill another player.
This includes intentionally running players over, deliberately knocking them down, using a vehicle as a weapon or purposely causing collisions in order to injure another player.
Pitting is permitted when it is carried out responsibly and with consideration for the situation. Players, including the police, must not pit another vehicle at speeds of 85mph or above.
The surrounding environment must always be considered before attempting a pit manoeuvre. Pitting or ramming another vehicle on bridges, near cliffs, on mountains or in situations where it is likely to cause an unrealistic or unavoidable outcome is prohibited. Deliberately using another vehicle to flip a car may also be treated as VDM or Fail Roleplay depending on the circumstances.
2.0 – GTA Driving
Vehicles must be driven in a manner that is appropriate for their design and capabilities. Vehicles that are not designed for off-road use should not be taken across extreme or unrealistic terrain simply because the game allows it.
Road vehicles may use designated trails where it would be reasonable to do so, but having off-road tyres does not automatically make a standard road vehicle suitable for extreme terrain.
Stunt jumps are permitted at the driver’s own risk. However, deliberately driving in an impossible, excessively unrealistic or game-like manner may be treated as GTA Driving.
2.1 – Stage 1 & Stage 2
Stage 1 – Injured: Stage 1 represents a character who has been seriously injured but is still capable of limited interaction.
Whilst in Stage 1, you may speak, contact emergency services and hear information being discussed around you. You may also provide relevant information to those involved where appropriate.
You must, however, roleplay your injuries properly and act in a way that reflects the seriousness of the situation.
Stage 2 – Deceased: Stage 2 represents a more serious condition where your character is unable to actively participate in the surrounding scene.
Whilst in Stage 2, you must not speak unless you are being actively treated by NHS or medical personnel. You may still interact through appropriate /me commands where necessary.
You must not participate in outside or unrelated scenes whilst in Stage 2. If NHS attempts to treat you, you must continue to roleplay the situation appropriately.
Once the timer has ended and the active scene has clearly concluded, you may respawn.
2.2 – 0 BPM Rule
If you choose to go to 0 BPM immediately during an active scene, your character may be permanently wiped, as choosing to immediately reach 0 BPM is treated as your character dying.
An exception may be made if paramedics have provided extensive and meaningful medical roleplay and determine that your character cannot be saved.
Roleplay over Ruleplay applies in these situations, meaning that each scenario may be considered based on its circumstances.
Choosing to go to 0 BPM to avoid a prison sentence, medical roleplay or any other consequences will result in your character being wiped.
2.3 – New Life Rule
When respawning, your character loses their memory of the events directly surrounding their death.
You must not immediately return to the location where the incident took place, remember or discuss the events surrounding your death, or use information that was gained before you died.
You must not seek revenge based on the incident or have another player remind you of what happened.
Players involved in the previous scene must also not attempt to establish whether the deceased player remembers the events.
2.4 – Failure to Value Life
Your character must value their own life and behave accordingly when faced with a genuine threat.
You are expected to reasonably fear for your life when a melee weapon is being used against you at close range, when a firearm is pointed directly at you, or when you are being held hostage and reasonable demands are being made.
However, players cannot be forced to withdraw money from their bank, reveal safe codes, access private properties or stashes, or retrieve items that would otherwise be inaccessible.
Failure to Value Life, commonly referred to as FTVL, concerns the value your character places on their own life and safety.
2.5 – Suicide Roleplay and Terror Roleplay
Suicide roleplay and terrorist-style roleplay are strictly prohibited.
This applies regardless of the intended storyline, character background or claimed roleplay justification.
2.6 – Meta Gaming
Information obtained outside of roleplay must not be used by your character in the city.
External communication platforms and methods cannot be used to coordinate active in-city situations. This includes Discord, private voice calls, stream chats, external messages or watching another player’s stream.
Characters must develop their own knowledge through roleplay. Information cannot be transferred between your own characters, and you cannot use knowledge gained from another character unless your current character has legitimately learned that information through roleplay.
2.7 – Robberies and Heists
Robberies and heists cannot begin within 30 minutes of a server restart.
A maximum of eight criminals may take part in a robbery or heist, including decamp drivers and anyone directly involved in the criminal side of the scenario. Hostages do not count towards this limit.
A maximum of two vehicles may be present at the initial robbery or heist location. Bikes and helicopters cannot be used at the initial location.
Additional escape vehicles may be introduced later where appropriate, and aircraft may become involved later as part of a reasonable and well-developed escape plan.
Hostage demands cannot involve requesting money or items. Interference vehicles are not permitted under any circumstances.
Stationary blocks and decamps are permitted and encouraged where they contribute to a fair and enjoyable scenario.
Robberies and heists should be designed around creating good roleplay rather than simply obtaining the maximum possible reward.
2.8 – Cop Baiting
Police officers must not be deliberately provoked purely to create a chase or interaction.
This includes purposely breaking traffic laws directly beside police officers, committing crimes solely to attract their attention, interfering with unrelated police scenes, abusing emergency dispatch systems or creating situations with no purpose other than provoking a police response.
Any interaction with the police should have a legitimate roleplay reason behind it.
2.9 – Green Zones
Green Zones are protected areas where players cannot initiate hostile actions.
Protected Locations: Hospital grounds are considered protected locations. This includes the entire hospital property and any associated grounds or accessible areas belonging to the premises.
Green Zone protection cannot be bypassed by moving to another floor, climbing onto the roof, using a rear entrance, standing behind the building or moving to another accessible area of the same protected property.
Active Scenes: Entering a Green Zone does not automatically erase or reset an existing scene.
If a legitimate hostile situation began outside of a Green Zone, simply entering the protected area does not automatically end the scenario. However, deliberately entering a Green Zone to exploit its protection and escape an active situation is prohibited and may be treated as Fail Roleplay.
Likewise, players inside a Green Zone cannot deliberately provoke someone outside of the protected area into starting a hostile situation and then rely on the Green Zone to avoid the consequences.
Green Zones are protected locations, not an escape mechanic.
3.0 – Scamming
Scamming for illegal goods is permitted where appropriate roleplay has taken place.
This may include weapons, criminally obtained items, robbery equipment, heist equipment, physical cash, cash rolls and money bags.
Players cannot be forced to withdraw money from their bank as part of a scam.
Legally obtained vehicles and legitimate legal property cannot be acquired through scams.
3.1 – ERP
Erotic Roleplay is permitted but is strictly monitored and must always involve clear consent from everyone involved.
No means no. If someone says no, asks you to stop or makes it clear that they are uncomfortable, the roleplay must stop immediately.
Players must not pressure another person into participating, repeatedly ask after being refused, threaten or manipulate someone, continue after consent has been withdrawn or use ERP to humiliate another player.
Erotic Roleplay must never be used as a form of harassment. Any unwanted sexual behaviour will be treated as harassment and dealt with accordingly.
3.2 – Force Roleplay
You must not insert yourself into another player’s scenario without a legitimate roleplay reason for your character to be involved.
Do not interfere with an active scene simply to gain an advantage, disrupt the scenario, take items, create unnecessary conflict or change the outcome.
If your character has no legitimate connection to the situation, you should stay out of it and allow the existing scenario to play out.
3.3 – Combat Logging
Leaving the server during an active situation to avoid the consequences is strictly prohibited.
This includes leaving to avoid being arrested, losing items or vehicles, being robbed, being killed, taking part in a pursuit or dealing with an active confrontation.
If you genuinely crash or lose connection, you should return as soon as reasonably possible and make every effort to continue the roleplay scene.
Deliberately disconnecting and then claiming that you crashed may be treated as Combat Logging.
3.4 – Combat Storing
Items and vehicles must not be stored, hidden or moved to inaccessible locations during an active scene in order to avoid losing them.
This includes storing weapons during a fight, moving items into private stashes or storing vehicles to prevent them from being taken or seized.
If the situation is still active, you must deal with the consequences through roleplay rather than using storage mechanics to protect your belongings.
3.5 – Location Camping
Players must not remain in an area for an extended period solely to rob, kill or initiate hostile roleplay against other players.
A legitimate roleplay reason may justify remaining in a particular area. However, deliberately camping another group’s robbery, heist or activity purely to take over the scenario is prohibited.
3.6 – Cheating & Exploiting
Cheats, hacks, unauthorised modifications, exploits and the deliberate abuse of server mechanics are strictly prohibited.
If you discover a bug, exploit, loophole or unintended mechanic, you must not use it for personal gain. Report it to staff instead.
Using an exploit and then claiming that it was not specifically listed in the rules is not an acceptable defence.
3.7 – Hostage Taking
Hostage situations must always have a legitimate roleplay purpose.
Fake hostages are prohibited. Hostages should not normally be held for longer than one hour unless there is a clear and legitimate reason for the situation to continue.
On-duty NHS staff cannot be taken hostage without a genuine roleplay reason. Police officers may be taken hostage, although players should expect an appropriate police response.
Proper verbal initiation must take place before attempting to take someone hostage.
All hostage situations should provide meaningful and enjoyable roleplay for everyone involved rather than simply being used as a mechanic to gain an advantage.
3.8 – Stealing Emergency Equipment
Emergency equipment may only be taken when there is a legitimate roleplay reason for doing so.
Items that may be taken include flashlights, spike strips, handcuffs, body cameras, armour, radios, bandages and first-aid equipment.
Items not listed above cannot be taken from emergency services.
3.9 – Impersonating Emergency Services
Pretending to be a police officer, NHS employee or another emergency service worker is prohibited.
This includes wearing official uniforms, using emergency service vehicles or deliberately presenting yourself as an employee of an emergency service.
Any exception must form part of a legitimate and appropriate roleplay scenario and should only take place where it makes sense within the circumstances.
4.0 – Whitelisted Job Corruption
All forms of corruption within a whitelisted job are strictly prohibited unless prior approval has been granted by Evolve Roleplay Staff Leads.
This includes, but is not limited to, police officers, medical and NHS staff, and lawyers.
Approval must be obtained before any corrupt activity takes place. Unauthorised corruption is prohibited regardless of the circumstances, intended storyline or desired outcome.
4.1 – Voice ID
Recognising a player’s voice does not automatically mean your character can identify them.
Radio: You cannot assume which character is speaking simply because you recognise the player’s voice.
Telephone: An anonymous number does not automatically reveal the identity of the character behind the call.
Masks: A masked person cannot automatically be identified solely by recognising their voice.
Identification may become reasonable through consistent and recognisable features, such as clothing, tattoos, hair, vehicles, number plates or other distinguishing characteristics.
4.2 – Aircraft
Aircraft must be operated realistically and in a manner appropriate to the situation.
During normal flight, aircraft should generally remain above 500 feet. Flying at a lower altitude may be permitted where there is a legitimate roleplay reason, such as surveillance or another appropriate scenario.
Aircraft must use suitable landing areas, and reckless or unrealistic flying is prohibited.
Aircraft cannot be used to extract prisoners or for corner selling. Aircraft also cannot be used at the beginning of a heist, although they may be introduced later as part of an appropriate escape.
4.3 – Screen Camping
Players must not exploit another player’s black screen or loading period to gain an advantage.
If an area causes a loading screen, you must not attack a player whilst they are unable to interact. Where possible, move away from the loading point and allow the player sufficient time to load into the area.
You should wait until they are able to properly participate before continuing the scenario.
Deliberately positioning yourself near a loading point in order to gain an advantage over players who cannot yet interact is prohibited.
4.4 – Business Ground Initiation
Business grounds should not be used as an easy way to force hostile roleplay or take employees hostage.
Taking action against someone at their workplace should always be a last resort and must have a genuine roleplay reason behind it. Employees cannot simply be taken hostage because they happen to be working at a business.
There must be meaningful verbal initiation or a legitimate connection between the employee and the scenario before any hostile action is taken.
Entering a business and immediately taking an employee hostage without appropriate roleplay leading up to it is prohibited.
This specific protection applies to employees who are actively working. Non-employees who happen to be present at the business are not protected by this rule and may be involved in roleplay where appropriate.
4.5 – Water Decamping
Water decamping is permitted, but it must be carried out fairly and in a way that allows the roleplay scenario to continue.
Before using water as a decamp, the active pursuit must have lasted for a minimum of 15 minutes.
Water decamping must involve leaving your vehicle and physically entering the water. Driving or deliberately placing a vehicle into the water and treating that as a decamp is not permitted.
Once you enter the water, you must still act reasonably and continue to value your character’s life. Water must not be used to exploit inaccessible areas, map limitations or game mechanics that make you impossible to locate or interact with.
You cannot enter the water purely to force police or another party to abandon a legitimate and active pursuit.
The purpose of water decamping is to create additional roleplay, not to provide an easy escape from a situation you would otherwise lose.
4.6 – Microphones
A working microphone is required to play on Evolve Roleplay. Players must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with others during roleplay.
Your microphone must also meet a reasonable standard of quality. Excessive background noise, constant distortion, extremely poor audio quality or anything else that makes communication difficult may result in staff speaking to you about your microphone.
Staff reserve the right to pull players aside and address microphone quality if they believe it does not meet the standard required for the server.
Players are expected to make a reasonable effort to ensure their microphone is clear enough for others to understand them and for roleplay to take place properly.
4.7 – Exploit Reporting
If you discover a bug, exploit, loophole or unintended mechanic that could provide an unfair advantage, do not abuse it.
You must report the issue to staff as soon as reasonably possible.
Simply discovering an exploit does not give you permission to use it, and claiming that you were unaware of the consequences after deliberately abusing it will not be accepted as an excuse.
The Golden Standard – Roleplay Over Winning
Do not treat the rules as a checklist of things you can technically get away with.
The purpose of Evolve Roleplay is to create enjoyable, fair and memorable scenarios for everyone involved. Winning should never be more important than good roleplay.
If an action is clearly intended to exploit a game mechanic, the wording of a rule, a location, a loophole or a technicality in order to gain an unfair advantage, staff may still treat it as a rule breach even if that exact situation is not specifically written word-for-word in the rules.
Give other players a fair opportunity to participate in the roleplay. Accept that your character will sometimes lose, be arrested, lose property or face consequences.
The best roleplay scenario is not always the one that you win. It is the one that everyone involved remembers.
Gang Rules
5.0 – Gang Members
Gang Members are limited to 10 Members and 3 Associates per gang. Associates are not permitted to wear gang clothing and can only get involved in heists for support roles such as swap vehicles, blocking, or similar jobs. Associates must also be a member of the gang for a minimum of 72 hours before they are allowed to move up to a full Member.
Leaders should not be constantly moving Associates up and down between Associate and Member just to use certain people as “shooters”. The Member role should not be moved around or preserved for specific people purely because a gang is expecting a shootout. If someone is a Member, they should be treated as a proper Member of the gang rather than having the role removed and given back depending on whether they are needed for a fight.
5.1 – Removing Members & Associates
If an Associate is removed from a gang, they will receive a 3 day cooldown before they are allowed to join another gang. If a full Member is removed from a gang, they will receive a 1 week cooldown before they are allowed to join another gang.
The Leader of the gang must be the person who opens the ticket to place someone on cooldown. The person being removed cannot open their own cooldown ticket or request their own cooldown. This is to make sure the Leader is confirming that the removal has actually taken place within RP and that the person is not simply trying to place themselves on cooldown.
5.2 – Blooded Players
Once someone has been Blooded, they are only allowed to take part in petty crime and similar activities. They are not allowed to join another gang once their cooldown has finished. Being Blooded is intended to prevent people from simply moving from gang to gang after being removed and continuing to take part in gang activity.
5.3 – Initiation & Breaching
Breaching is not allowed at any point. This is in place to make sure everything remains balanced and that other gangs are given a fair opportunity to progress without having their situations constantly interrupted or shut down through breaching.
All hostile RP must have a clear and understandable initiation where one is required. The initiation needs to be obvious enough that everyone involved understands what is about to happen before hostile action is taken.
5.4 – Vehicle Initiation
Initiation from vehicles is allowed as long as it is clear and understandable. You must be shouting, and all parties involved must be able to clearly hear the initiation. Vehicle initiation does not apply to Police, meaning you cannot initiate on Police from a vehicle.
Vehicle initiation is only permitted during Gang vs Gang situations. During the initiation, you must remain on shout so that the other party can clearly hear what is being said.
5.5 – POV
During all gang fights, every member who is part of the ride out must be able to provide a full POV from start to finish if requested by Staff. The POV must show the full interaction and should not be edited in a way that removes important parts of the situation.
If a POV has not been requested within 48 hours, you are allowed to delete it. However, if Staff request a POV and you are unable to provide one, there is a risk of Staff voiding the interaction that is being questioned.
5.6 – Ride Out Limits
Only 5 Members are allowed on a ride out against another gang. During Gang vs PD fights, only 6 Members are allowed on the ride out. These numbers will be closely monitored by Staff and may be adjusted if we feel changes are needed to keep things fair and balanced.
5.7 – Fights on Turf
Gangs are allowed to use their full 10 Members when defending their own turf. However, if a gang runs a specific location and organises a fight with another gang at that location, the fight must remain 5v5.
For example, if Gang A runs X Location and organises a fight with Gang B at that location, the fight will be 5v5 and the normal ride out limit will apply.
If a gang that is not Southside pushes into Southside territory and starts a hostile situation, the Southside gang is allowed to utilise their full 10 Members to defend their turf.
Staff will monitor turf fights closely to make sure this is not being abused as a way of bypassing the normal ride out limits. If Staff feel that a gang is using turf rules purely to get around the 5v5 limit, action can be taken.
